Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS) is a minimally invasive therapy that uses low-level electrical stimulation to retrain the pelvic nerve pathways responsible for bladder control. By targeting the tibial nerve near the ankle—which connects to the sacral plexus—PTNS sends therapeutic signals to help regulate urinary function over time.
This conservative, evidence-based treatment is ideal for patients experiencing:
Modern science meets ancient wisdom.
Advanced needling by licensed experts.
Targeted treatment for real results.
Healing beyond just symptoms.
Yesterday was the first time I have ever gotten acupuncture as a treatment and as the old saying goes first impressions are lasting. Impressions the staff at the point acupuncture were wonderful. Ashley was very accommodating. She literally went out into the parking lot to make sure that I turned in at the right place because I was having trouble even finding it and the doctor once I was in the room made me feel very comfortable and I was in a headspace that would be ready.
I can’t share enough wonderful things about the people who work at this clinic as well as Dr. Claudia. I am an Air Force veteran who suffers from a lot of back pain and not only has she helped me manage that and find that Acupuncture has helped me tremendously, but also help with many other things as far as my overall health regarding taking care of myself. Dr. Claudia and her team care about you like family and I would drive anywhere to get seen by them.
I cannot thank Dr. Sandoval enough for the incredible care and expertise she has provided. Before seeing her, I had no relief for pain. I struggled with severe neck stiffness, spine and back pain, making everyday tasks daunting. Her thorough evaluations allow her to diagnose every inch of pain, making her treatment truly effective. Thanks to her treatment, I’ve regained mobility and energy. Several months in, I’m on the road to recovery and feeling better than ever. Dr. Sandoval is truly amazing!
Each session is performed in a calm, clinical setting. A small, hair-thin needle is inserted near the ankle, and gentle electrical pulses are delivered to the tibial nerve. Most patients feel a mild tapping or tingling in the foot or calf. Sessions last approximately 30 minutes.
The standard protocol includes weekly treatments for 10–12 weeks, followed by occasional maintenance sessions as needed. Many patients begin to notice improvement within just a few visits.
Why Choose PTNS at Our Clinic?
Not at all. Most patients feel only a mild tingling or pulsing sensation near the ankle or foot. It is typically well tolerated, even by those sensitive to stimulation.
The standard plan includes one session per week for 10 to 12 weeks. After that, occasional maintenance sessions may be recommended based on your progress.
We bill PTNS at our regular visit rate. There are no additional procedure fees—making this a fraction of the cost compared to PTNS administered in urology offices.
While some insurance plans may cover PTNS in a urology setting, our clinic does not bill insurance for this treatment. However, our model provides a cost-effective, transparent alternative for those without coverage or with high deductibles.
Yes. Both therapies target the same pelvic nerve network. PTNS offers similar benefits without the need for surgical implants or more invasive procedures.
No. PTNS is a stand-alone therapy with its own clinical protocol. It is not combined with acupuncture or dry needling, and appointments are scheduled separately to ensure focused treatment.
